West County Health Center Hosts Arts Café
Free event promotes the intersection of the arts and healing.

What:
This is a free two-hour event in which local artists and others will share their approaches to combining arts and healing. There will be presentations on the therapeutic values of meditation, sound, creativity, dance and movement.
Who:
The event is being presented by the Arts & Culture Commission of Contra Costa County and Art of Health and Healing (formerly known as Healing Through the Arts), a group that includes staff from Contra Costa Health Services. Artists, health care workers and the public are invited to come and listen and participate. The presenters will be Pam Fingado, a Bay Area artist, creativity coach and meditation instructor; Valerie Carpenter, an expert in the healing power of sound; and Krishna Harrison and Phil Weglarz, who specialize in movement-based expressive arts therapy.
