Community meeting to update residents on the Richmond Chevron Refinery Fire

What:

A community meeting will be held Monday to provide residents with updates and review future actions regarding the August 6 Chevron Refinery fire in Richmond. Childcare, translation services, and light refreshments will be provided.

Who:

Speakers at the meeting will include representatives from Contra Costa Health Services, Bay Area Air Quality Management District, US Chemical Safety and Hazard Investigation Board, California Occupational Safety and Health Administration, Contra Costa Sheriff's Office of Emergency Services, US Environmental Protection Agency and Chevron Refinery.

When:

The meeting will take place 5:15 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, September 24. Light refreshments and an open house with informational booths for participating agencies will be 5:15 to 6 p.m. followed by a panel discussion and question and answer period from 6 to 8:30 p.m.

Where:

Richmond Memorial Auditorium, 403 Civic Center Plaza, Richmond.

Why:

This meeting is an opportunity to listen to residents' concerns and suggestions to help inform investigations and policies and improve responsiveness. Residents will also learn about how the participating agencies are addressing the issues that arose from the Chevron fire.
