New Farmers' Market at Contra Costa Hospital Promotes Healthy Eating, Local Farming

What:

The Contra Costa Regional Medical Center and Contra Costa Certified Farmers' Markets Inc. have teamed up to test the viability of a weekly market offering healthy, locally-sourced food at the hospital. The partnership increases the availability of local produce and healthy prepared foods in the community. The pilot is scheduled to run through May 29. Its continued operation depends on the success of the event during the remaining weeks of the pilot.

Who

The market is open to the public and features delectable seasonal fruits and vegetables from farms as nearby as Danville and Brentwood, delicious prepared foods from local businesses, and live music. Customers will also be able to pick up brochures on nutrition and even get recipes for healthy dishes.

When

The farmers' market takes place every Tuesday from 3-7 p.m. through May 29

In front of Contra Costa Regional Medical Center, 2500 Alhambra Ave., Martinez
