Advisory Board Celebrates 25 Years of Improving Health, Environment in Contra Costa

What:
A local advisory board that has played a pivotal role in key improvements to the health and environment of Contra Costa will celebrate its 25th anniversary Thursday in Martinez. Since the Public and Environmental Health Advisory Board formed in 1986, it has had a hand in limiting secondhand smoke, creating menu labeling policies, monitoring and improving air quality, promoting environmental and social justice, decreasing pesticide use and many more issues that affect the health of people who live in Contra Costa. The board advises the Director of Public Health for Contra Costa Health Services and the Contra Costa Board of Supervisors. Speakers at the 25th anniversary event include local health officials and original board members.

Speakers are Contra Costa Health Services Director Dr. William Walker, Public Health Director Dr. Wendel Brunner, the board's first Executive Assistant Marice Ashe, longtime board member Art Hatchett and current Chairperson Marj Leeds.
