6th Annual One-stop Shop Connects Homeless People with Vital Services

Tuesday, September 14, 2010

What:

A one-stop shop will be held Thursday to connect homeless people with the resources they need to end their homelessness. Project Homeless Connect 6, sponsored by Contra Costa Health Services and the City of Antioch, is a single-day event that offers to homeless people everything from haircuts to health care, as well as food, referrals to area services and housing. Volunteers are urgently needed to help at the event. Call 925-313-6124 or show up the morning of the event to volunteer or visit our website at www.cchealth.org/services/homeless/homeless_connect.php.

When:

Project Homeless Connect will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, September 16 at the County Fairgrounds, 1201 West 10th Street, Antioch.

How:

Shuttle transportation will be available for homeless persons all day beginning at 8 a.m. from the local shelters and multi-service centers and other locations.

Why:

Thousands of people experience homelessness each night in Contra Costa. Providing health services promotes good health for the entire community, and many more people, particularly families with children and young adults, are becoming homeless and losing access to care.
