Monday, November 8, 2010
What:
Contra Costa Health Services will host free flu clinics in nine cities this Wednesday to help individuals and families protect themselves during the upcoming flu season. One flu vaccine is needed this year to protect people from H1N1 and two other flu viruses. Vaccine will be available in nasal and shot form. Free whooping cough and pneumococcal vaccines are also available for those who are eligible.
Who:
The clinics are open to the public on a first-come, first-serve basis. Everyone 6 months and older should get vaccinated.
When:
Clinics will be held from 1 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, November 10 in Richmond (403 Civic Center Plaza), El Sobrante (5050 El Portal Drive), Concord (5298 Clayton Road), Martinez (30 Muir Road), Lafayette (952 Moraga Road), Danville (655 Old Orchard Drive), Pittsburg (200 Marina Boulevard), Antioch (1919 Buchanan Road) and Brentwood (30 Learning Lane).
Why:
The flu is a serious respiratory disease that can cause severe illness and even death. Getting vaccinated against the flu now will help prevent spread during the holiday season.
