Joint Press Conference on Schools and Swine Flu

What:
A joint press conference will be held today encouraging school districts to make sure their required School Safety Plans include responses to pandemic flu. Information on a Contra Costa school closure also will be provided. Contra Costa health officials closed Highlands Elementary School in Pittsburg starting today after preliminary tests indicated three students were infected with swine flu.

Contra Costa Health Services Director and County Health Officer Dr. William Walker will provide information on the Contra Costa school closure at the joint press conference with State Superintendent of Public Instruction Jack O'Connell, Assembly Member Tom Torlakson and Contra Costa County Superintendent of Schools Joseph A. Ovick, who are holding a press conference encouraging school districts to make sure their required School Safety Plans include responses to pandemic flu.
