Help Connect People Experiencing Homelessness with Vital Services
May 18, 2009
What:
There are only three more weeks to sign up as a volunteer for this year's Project Homeless Connect. The one-day event, sponsored by Contra Costa Health Services and the City of Richmond, connects hundreds of people who are experiencing homelessness with food, medical and dental care, substance abuse programs, shelters and more. The success of the event depends largely on volunteers. Volunteers are needed to help set up, greet and direct people, distribute goods and food, assist service providers and provide general assistance. Donations are also accepted.
Who:
Anyone over the age of 18 is encouraged to volunteer. Volunteer registration forms are available online at www.cchealth.org or by calling 925-313-6124. Completed forms must be received by June 8.
When:
Project Homeless Connect 4 will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, June 17. Volunteers are needed on June 16 from 2 to 6 p.m. and on June 17 from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. Volunteers are asked to serve at least a half-day.
Where:
Richmond Memorial Auditorium, 403 Civic Center Street, Richmond
Why:
An estimated 7,000 people experience homelessness each night in Contra Costa. Last year, Project Homeless Connect served a record 621 people in one day.
