A new show highlighting how community members can help prepare for emergencies will premiere this week.
The new episode of the Get Ready, Get Healthy series, which will highlight how both county agencies and community members are preparing for emergencies, will premiere on Monday, July 23 at 7:30 p.m. The show will re-air on Thursday, July 26th and August 2nd at 10:30 a.m. and on Monday, July 30 at 7:30 p.m. on Contra Costa Television. Studio guests include Kim Cox, Health Emergency Coordinator and Chris Boyer, Manager of Emergency Services, who will highlight how county agencies plan to respond in case of an emergency. Jon Gourdine, an American Red Cross Health and Safety Instructor, will also be a guest discussing CPR and First Aid training. (Get Ready, Get Healthy is produced in partnership by Contra Costa Health Services and Contra Costa Television).
"This show has an array of information for the community. Not only can viewers learn about the emergency planning efforts from county agencies, but they get a first hand look at how they can get involved and be better prepared," said Victoria Balladares, producer of Get Ready, Get Healthy.
Balladares said the show also features interviews with the Contra Costa Hazardous Materials Program and Contra Costa Fire.
"The interviews highlight how the Contra Costa Hazardous Materials Program is prepared to keep the community safe in case of a chemical emergency and how Contra Costa Fire is equipped to respond to not only fire-related emergencies but medical emergencies as well," said Balladares.
According to Balladares the show will also include segments on how the community can better prepare themselves to help their neighbors by joining a Community Emergency Response Team.
Contra Costa Television can be seen on channel 27 for Comcast viewers and channel 32 for Astound viewers. More information about Get Ready, Get Healthy is available on the Contra Costa Health Services website, cchealth.org.
