Training Available for Volunteers to Become Senior Peer Counselors

An eight-week training program for seniors who want to help others as a senior peer counselor.

Who
Volunteers for the program should be over 55, able to travel within Contra Costa County and willing to commit to six hours a week of volunteering for at least one year. People of color are particularly encouraged to apply. The program is administered and supervised by the Mental Health Division of Contra Costa Health Services, the county health department.
Why
Volunteers get to use their life experience to help other adults cope with life changes. In return, they learn valuable life and communication skills.
